Helmet bascinet mid-14th century

This helmet model is a copy of a real-life medieval helmet bascinet, which was copied from the medieval miniatures. 

Originally bascinet or bastsinet was support for the main helmet of cavalier – topfhelm (similar a pot). Topfhelm was good protection during a Cavalry attacks with a lance atilt. After the Cavalry attacks comes the turn to take up the melee weapons – swords, maces and axes. In such a case, tophelm was uncomfortable because of the bad review and ventilation. Therefore, under him were of a smaller helmet, which usually takes the contours of the head – bascinet. It was protecting from bumps the top and sides, leaving the face uncovered. Somewhere in the XIV century bascinet increasingly worn as the main helmet. Over time, he was transformed into a massive option - grandbatsinet. But the problem the vulnerability of the face was remained. To solve this problem, sometimes was attached a special pad on noce to a bascinets. It was attached by means of hooks or hinges of top. And from under it was connected to barmitsa that covered his neck.

Base price includes helmet made of cold-rolled steel 1.5 mm, with satin finish treatment, steel rivets and sewn liner.

To create a whole image of the knight of the 14th century must take into account all the elements of protection apart from the helmet – brigandines or scale armours, padded liners, gambesons, arm armours and leg armours.
