Brigandine for European knight of late 13-14th century. This brigandine is an authentic replica, dated 13th century. As reproduced now, it preserves vivid features of its historical age - technology of its manufacturing and assembling, natural fabrics and best quality strong steel, moreover, due to advancing it provides much comfort and durability.
The set of plates includes different size plates for better arranging, it allows to avoid gaps between them and gives an advantage of comfortable wearing and adjustment to the individual body building. The front part and sides are made of visby dished plates, made with overlapping 1.5-2 cm. The back is made of square flat plates. Each plate is fixed with 4 rivets. The plate size is 6 x 6 cm, 1,5mm thickness. The plates are butted. Maximum distance between plates in the seams is 0.5cm.
What makes our brigandine durable and reliable one?
1. Each Brigandine consists of 3 layers:
- Canvas with plates firmly riveted on in 3 or 5 points
- Outer shell made of wool or leather, deerskin, velvet orsilk
- Inner shell
and is sewn as inner shell+canvas with plates+outer shell
2. Riveting of steel plates is performed with 2 steel washers and leather washer to fabric side
3. The type of leather fastenings: Each strap is made of 2 leather layers sewn together. Each strap is sewn NOT to the outer shell of brigandine but riveted in 2 points to inner steel plate. It prevents their tearing off the outer shell, as well as wearing-out and tearing of both inner and outer shells.
Standard options:
1. outer shell is made of 100% natural wool
2. Inner shell is made of natural linen/flax
3. Between the wool shell and steel sheets is additional cotton layer to protect wool shell from tearing
5. Steel plates are painted against rusting
6. The edges of steel plates are rounded to protect Brigandine from tearing within.
7. The brigandine is assembled with pop-rivets with wide head, leather washers for durability
8. The 6 x 6 cm (2.3"x2.3") steel plates have 1,0mm (19 ga) thickness on the back body part.
9. All steel accessories, including steel rivets, are made from high quality strong steel.
Fastenings - leather straps with steel buckles. The color of leather straps is either black or brown.
Brigandine bottom design is plain.
Decoration:
- the chest is decorated with red wash leather cross sewn to the base material.
- The straps are made of red wash leather straps with figure pattern.
